Strategic Investing

Rapid growth, intense competition, and dynamic changes lead to continuous dis-aggregation of technology and fragmentation of customer markets. Many companies need to move beyond partnering into close strategic relationships that involve differing forms of financial investment. Developing firms often look for additional technology and market presence along with the investment capital to implement their plans. More established companies look for opportunities to make strategic investments (sometimes to acquire) in complementary businesses and technologies that improve their competitiveness. Such efforts are often a natural outgrowth of partnering strategies and programs. Facilitating investment and corporate development requires a lot of time (and a large industry network) that may distract management without a quick and positive outcome - usually an investment and some kind of technology/OEM agreement between the parties.
